Location changed for Toledo’s free recycling event this weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The City of Toledo’s free recycling event this weekend has a new location.

Due to construction at Frederick Douglass Center, the event has been moved to Indiana Avenue Baptist Church located at 640 Indiana Ave. The event will take place on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

According to the City, this week, in addition to recyclables, they are also accepting:

  • Household hazardous waste
  • Oil based paints and stains
  • Medical equipment
  • Residential yard waste

Drop-off Refuse and Recycling events scheduled for 2022

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo residents have 24 opportunities this year to participate in Clean Toledo Drop-Off Refuse and Recycling events.

These free events allow safe disposal of items that normally might be difficult to take care of, or otherwise not accepted during curbside residential trash services.

New this year, the list of acceptable items has been expanded for certain days, and latex and oil-based paint and stains will be disposed of free of charge.


A variety of items will be collected for appropriate and safe disposal during these events.

Items that will be accepted for disposal or recycling include:

  • Electronic waste
  • Televisions and CRT monitors
  • A maximum of 10 tires (on or off the rim, no commercial tires allowed)
  • Document shredding and recycling
  • Houseware goods
  • Clothing
  • Toys
  • Bulky items
  • Cardboard
  • Refuse
  • Latex or oil-based paint and stains (free of charge)
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Styrofoam and boat wrap*

*April 23, May 7 and May 21 only

Air conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers or large appliances will not be accepted.

Event times vary for 2022, but most are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the designated locations below. Check the list for more information.
