Pro Golf Fairways to open third location in downtown Toledo

Pro Golf Fairways co-owner and contractor, Robert Walsh, was at the driving range when he met his current business partner, Jeff Manore. The reason they met? Bad golf.

“About twelve, thirteen years ago I was golfing so terribly that I went to the driving range and one of the patrons I about hit, told me to go back to basics. I realized I didn’t know the basics, so I went down there, and Jeff was giving lessons, and the rest is history,” said Walsh.

Years later, Walsh and Manore have opened two multisport simulator locations in the area. Now, they’re welcoming another to downtown Toledo.

Women’s Golf Heads to Toledo for Glass City Invitational

TOLEDO, OH…The Kent State women’s golf team tees off tomorrow for their third tournament off the season and their first in-state, as they travel west to compete in the Glass City Invitational hosted by the University of Toledo.

Through the first two tournaments, the Flashes have had a number of individual successes.

Last weekend, Leon Takagi and Hester Sicking both recorded top ten finishes at the Mary Fossum Invitational, with Takagi tying for a tournament round best 69 on the final 18.

Toledo Muni Challenge tees off this weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio — Calling all Toledo golfers: The inaugural Muni Challenge tees off this weekend.

The contest starts Sunday and runs through May 31. Participants who play a round of golf at each of the city’s three municipal golf courses – Ottawa Park, Detwiler Park and Collins Park – will receive one free round.

Players will also receive discounts on local golf throughout the year, opportunities for daily prize drawings and other discounts from area businesses.

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and City Councilman Sam Melden will play Detwiler Sunday at noon to kick off the challenge.
