Plummer Pool trades flip-flops for paws for a good cause

SYLVANIA, Ohio — Plummer Pool in Sylvania went to the dogs on Sunday, and it was all for a good cause.

For the 12th year, Plummer Pool in Sylvania has hosted Jake’s Pooch Plunge, a fundraiser for the Glass City Dog Park.

A $5 entry got animal lovers and their favorite four-legged friend an hour-and-a-half of all-canine pool access.

Toledo Humane Society celebrates their first microchip clinic

TOLEDO, Ohio — Shari Henning said she doesn’t remember a time when pets were not a part of her life.

“We’ve had three shelties, a German shepherd a bullmastiff and a full-sized collie we just lost. She was almost 13,” Henning said.

Their most recent dog died of old age, so the Henning family decided to get a new dog, name Abby, a miniature collie in honor of the collie they recently lost.

Local rescue taking in an increased number of dogs from Ohio puppy mills

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Planned Pethood has helped find homes for thousands of dogs and cats over the years. The organization does not have a brick and mortar shelter, so all the animals taken in are cared for in foster homes.

The rescue is in need of some extra help right now because of a growing number of dogs in need. Planned Pethood finds homes for close to 1,000 animals every year, and in recent months, the organization has rescued an increasing number of dogs from puppy mills.
