Man swims 10 miles in Maumee River to raise funds for women healing from substance abuse

Monday morning, the owner of Joe’s Yoga & Fitness in Perrysburg set out on his second fundraising swim up the Maumee River.

Joe Sparks started at Hood Park and made his way 10 miles to the Glass City Metropark.

His goal was to raise $1,000 for New Attitude On My Image to sponsor shelter and support for women recovering from various forms of abuse.

“They’re a shelter for women who are going through domestic abuse, who have had domestic abuse, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, they help transform these women’s lives and make their lives go better,” Sparks described.
