Ohio’s plan to get kids glasses

Ohio is developing a statewide initiative to make sure kids who need glasses get glasses.

State health department data shows 80% of children who fail vision screenings in school don’t follow up with an eye doctor. At his State of the State address, Gov. Mike DeWine announced he was creating the Children’s Vision Strike Force to address that problem and help get kids their follow-up care.

“It’s wrong that in the third decade of the 21st century, tens of thousands of children in Ohio who need eyeglasses are simply not getting them,” DeWine said.
